Learning Outcomes and Application This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to command an aircraft in a multi-crew environment in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and national operating standards.It includes establishing aircraft command, managing tasks and workload, and communicating organisational objectives and required standards. It also includes making effective decisions, and leading flight crews and individuals.This unit addresses aviation non-technical skill requirements (mental, social and personal-management abilities) related to leadership and supervision duties of a pilot in command (PIC) and contributes to safe and effective performance in complex aviation operational environments.Operations are conducted as part of commercial and military aircraft activities across a variety of operational contexts within the Australian aviation industry.Work is performed independently and without supervision within a multi-crew environment.Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements are applicable to this unit.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Element: Establish aircraft command
  • Command responsibilities are exercised in accordance with organisational authority and guidelines

Assessment Tasks
